The sounds of music just went out of tune
A Comedy Adventure in the Alps
The Clarinet on the Glacier

by J.E. MacKenzie
Hear the author being interviewed about the book on World Radio Switzerland !
A story of determination and dedication, and discovering what really matters, set in the majestic beauty of Switzerland's Alps.
Also a story of illegal paragliding, accidental water-skiing and amateur snake-charming. Switzerland doesn't market these things so much.
Harris Beadlesby is a man of culture and values. But now he’s stuck in England after accidentally assaulting a pensioner, killing her dog and blowing up a boat. These things happen. He also possessed the world’s most expensive clarinet until some idiot lost it on a glacier in the Alps. These things happen too.

Scaling a mountain is a tricky business, especially when you lack the common sense to find your way out of an emergency exit.

Jessica Morriston believes in little cultural value beyond salt ‘n’ vinegar crisps and a borderline unhealthy obsession with former James Bond actor, Timothy Dalton. But she’s an expert hiker and fluent in German and French.

They have five days to get that clarinet back to the UK. Sherlock Holmes, James Bond and Clint Eastwood have all seen adventure in the Bernese Highlands. Now it’s their turn.

They also have problems with the Swiss police, French ticket inspectors and the UK Border Force. Not to mention Jessica’s attractiveness to a horny waiter and a very angry cobra.

Are they heading to a grand finale or an avalanche of disaster ?

Check out this section for my previous novel (including where you can get it), a children's story which isn't strictly for children, and even some Church sermons, believe it or not (pun intended).
